View Full Version : [COOP MAP] D-DAY (FINAL)
So, finally its done:

General info
In this map you play as Axis and defend against the invading Allied forces. The main objective
is to keep at least one of the three officers alive until the 17th SS Panzer Division arrives.
Each player will have their own officer to control and players have to decide what's the safest
place to be at different times. Base is not always the safest place if it gets pounded by
heavy artillery and open fields have snipers and other squads running after the officers.
The officers are stronger than normally so they can take heavy damage but if you are lucky
enough your officer dies on a direct artillery hit at the beginning of the mission or gets

The Allied forces will always be controlled by heavily scripted AI so you can only play
as Axis (with friends/AI). During the mission you will also get several objectives to
complete like escort, kill or defend someone/something. The thing in this map is that it
is supposed to be very hard to complete, each minute the Allied forces will get stronger and
start using better units and tactics against you so eventually you will be nearly destroyed.
At the end a team score will be calculated using stats like: time survived, units killed,
units lost, missions completed. The AI has only one difficulty level so the score can be
equally compared with other players.
You probably need to play the map several times to learn the best defensive tactics against
the AI and try to get better team score. Even if you are not good against the normal skirmish
AI you should be able to enjoy the map.
Updated:

- Popcap slightly increased
- No tank traps
- Captain Schultz is a bit stronger now
- Fixed officer hiding exploit
- Some more info for objectives like where to go what to do
- Online play might be a bit harder than before cause of the new objectives and some other stuff
Skirmish friendly mode:
When playing alone offline you have double popcap, more reinforcements,
more starting troops and a bit more time to prepare at start before real attacks start.

- Play annihilate with fixed locations
- Fill slots 1, 2 and 3 with any CPU
- Fill slots 4, 5 and 6 with players or CPU
Updated:
- Players can now play as Wehrmacht or PE
- Airplanes changed to RAF ones
- Added commando attacks
- Ground troops are still USA only
- Map should work for everyone, OF only/COH only owners too
Note! the map works only with skirmish now cause online play doesn't seem to work well with the current patch

yeah, I was surprised, me I never made it hehe (so far)
It's just a case of getting as many Flak 88's and MG Bunkers built as you can. I ignored tanks and normal Infantry and just went all out defence. Only used my infantry to recrew flak 88's and take back my reinforcement point.
It makes it almost impossible to save the Tigers but hell I was only looking to stay alive. Even then they were about to take out my last few bunkers when the time ran out.
Hope you can make another map like this, nothing like trying desperatley to stay alive for sixty minutes. :D
Yeah, I will try that too, but I need a short break on this one, guess I played it more then 60 times while in development :)
...and yeah, we got another idea I am already working on but a map like this takes a lot of time, so don`t expect it too soon.
Yeah i understand how hard it must be to balance everything, put all the triggers in place etc. Still looking forward to seeing how the next one turns out:)

the file is available in .sga format and with an easy installer.
if you downloaded the sga the file must go to
...documents and settings/my documents/my games/Company of Heroes/ww2/scenarios
the installer should automaticly choose the correct path.
Then simply play COH without "-dev" or something...
(You need the latest patch installed of course)
That's a pretty good map. I managed to last 39 minutes, recapture my side of the map and build new bunkers before my officer got killed. (1player and all cpu on normal)
not bad, but change your team ai mates to expert, this will help a lot and allies side doesn`t matter, its always the same stuff coming...

well.. it's possible with a trick, but then you can cheat all the high scores and I don't think Henry likes this. ;)
hehe, no thats not the problem, if people would like to cheat - so be it :), but maybe mod makers should switch to support sga`s instead of the sgb files...
I don't think that's possible, henry.. sga's only work without -dev and making a mod that runs without -dev is possble (i think), but then it's very limited with the files you can mod. For instance i can't mod files in /Data/scar without -dev.
IMO Relic needs to fix this.. I don't see any reason why sga maps couldn't work with -dev.
edit: GREAT!!.. i did some tests with packing my mod in an sga and now it works without -dev!
It's quite fun to play this map without Fog of War actually. Now I can see the whole map. Btw. what happened to your foam map (for the ocean), Henry? Couldn't get it to work?
You can change the path the game looks for maps in the modname.module somewhere. Works also with mods started with -dev, read that some time ago on relicnews forum.
For the foam map - guess I would have to make a mod to get it to work, got it good working here, but for all others the ocean was just pink hehe, didn`t looked that good.
ah.. i think i know what it is then.. in the module file the ScenarioPackFolder needs to be changed to this:
ScenarioPackFolder = WW2\Scenarios
I did this in my test also.
Anyways, It's great map!.. I'll post my highscore too, when my new pc is finished. :) (i'm building it now.. my current unskilled noob pc is too slow for this.)

hi.. it's only one (sga) file that needs to copied to the coh my documents folder... but you don't even have to do this yourself, the installer does it for you. :)

When i played this with my brother lan we used the noob vs pro mod to raise our odds, we made it ou 59 min and 31 sec.

First of all...My friends and I are HUGE fans of your maps. We especially love the D-day coop map. I have a couple of questions/suggestions which I hope you'd at least consider. Here goes...
1.) Will there be a D-day coop that can play a 4vs4?
2.) (In connection to the 1st post) ...a 4v4 D-day in OF where its both Americans and Brits coming in from the sea against Wermacht and Panzer elite?
3.) Would it be possible for you guys to make a Multiplayer Coop Campaign (for LAN Players)? Where it could be like..
for Stage 1 D-Day Coop 4v4
for Stage 2 Market Garden Coop 4v4
and so on for probably 5 stages... for both Axis and Allies (OF)
I know i would mean a lot of work but I'm really hopeful that you guys can do it (especially if its for OF). If there was ever any MOD/Map Maker out there who can pull something of this magnitude off... it'll be you guys.

Thanks for the response man, first off all we are already working on new stuff, I finished a new map and Mannerheim is already working on the code, so there`s light at the end of the tunnel :)
For D-Day Coop 4 vs 4 is going to be difficult (also for OF with british coming in would mean to add a lot of code), we had already enough people complaining about 3 players needed for d-day, so we will put some more focus on also making the maps playable alone, rather then making it even harder to find people for a match. But maybe, nothing is impossible. But I guess weŽll like to try out different stuff rather then investing so much time in making this one again.
For Market Garden you can provide some additional info (with links and pictures maybe ?), I then can think about a matching map :)
For coop campaign, I guess maybe we can add them together in one file later when we have some maps but if you think about d-day, that took us almost 3 month from me starting the map till release, so creating a campaign would keep us busy - maybe a year or what hehe, so better release map after map eh :)
For your maps...I'm sure its well worth the wait.:)
Scratch the Market Garden idea since its going to be in the OF campaign for Panzer elite. How about a Carantan map then? Maybe a coop version...:D
Your regular multiplayer maps are terrific by the way, but what really sets you guys apart are the Coop maps with the uber difficult comp AI. I'm just hoping you release another coop map.
And of for the OF maps (if you guys guys decide to do 1 that's coop)...as I've said...Its worth the wait. Keep it up please....your loyal fans await your next map. Cheers!:)

no, the installer points to the correct directory by default, don`t change it. after install you can normally start coh and select the map under skirmish and multiplayer.

Hello, i would like to know the requirements and procedure to install this D day map into my COH. I have create a folder call MP and change a shotcut with "dex" but it still not working. Althought some other maps is running smoothly but this D day map does not show any response.Pls help. THank you

well i did what i said and it work (skirmish only cause i cant get the patch working for a unknow fucked up reason) but i installed it to cheatmod and its really cool whit cheatmod :D if you have it too u must try it

- at least patch 1.4 is needed to play
- start ddaycoop.exe, the installer will show the correct path, don`t change it!
- start coh normal (no -dev shortcut needed)
- select map in skirmish/multi
OF will be released in a few days and I was wondering if we can expect a coop map for OF anytime soon? :) BTW, D-day is still the best coop map anywhere!
DDAY co-op is such an awesome map but it no longer work ever since the new patch, gives a fatal error thingy, is there any patch for it? cos i love to play it again with my frds :) great work henry,:)

me and a freind tried it and we cut the us down like shooting fish in a barral as much as it pained me to kill my fellow country men i would like to have some fun with the us side for once.

Gave the new D-Day coop map a try...managed to last 48 mins. Great map as usual... My one comment is the frequency of the British Commando Gliders. They seem to be too rare an occurance. Would it be possible that they come in more often and in greater numbers?http://forum.1337coh.com/images/icons/icon5.gif

it is, would mean rescripting the whole thing, you can already play as americans in the campaign, why not try something different, btw its still only a computergame, so nothing serious ...

Three of us have downloaded the map and is installed in the correct place. When we play MP, online it says "You are trying to join a game with a map you don't have" No matter who hosts, it says the same thing for all three of us. Note: we can not join the game due to it being greyed out. We get the message when we accept the invite from whoever is hosting.
Could this be due to the patch that came out this week? We just downloaded the map tonight. Thanks for your time in this matter.....
yep, currently no custom maps work online, only skirmish works, hopefully relic fixes this soon.

We use the archive tool, in COH, and extracted all the files to the MP folder in coh, deleted them out of the MY games/COh documents folder, and all of us can play them online. All the files extract, using the archive tool, and you put them in the same file as all the rest of the modded maps you may have. YOu have to use the Dev version of COH and they work great. The DDay coop map is great, love it. Hard as heck too.

Here you go on the location, what ever drive your game is in then COH/ww2/data/scenarios/mp
U have to use the comand promt then the archive tool, since it is dos based. Then pic the sga file and extract then into that folder path I wrote above.

If you have never used the comand prompt it would be hard for me to give you a tutorial due to me not knowing where your files are on your computer and it is involved if u have never done it before. I have come across this program that is windows based that should extract them the same way as doing it in the command prompt without all the typing involved. I have not used is yet, but I am assuming that you would pick the .SGA file (map) And extract it to the game folder
C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes\WW2\Data\Scenarios\MP\[mapNameFolder]
Note, make sure, if the sga folders are in the C:\Mydocuments/my games\COH you will have to delete these from there after you have extracted/ unpacked them into the folder above. Also, you may have to add the data, scenarios and MP folders to the WW2 folder if you have never added any custom maps before.
Once you have them extracted into that folder you will do this if you have no other custom maps installed. They will not work from the normal game shortcut or show up unless you do the following
Copy the COH.exe shortcut to your desktop from the COH game folder
- right click on the COH shortcut and select Properties.
- add -dev to the end of the Target line, with a space in front, like this:
"C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes\RelicCOH.exe" -dev (C:\ may not be where yours is but you get the picture)- now rename the shortcut to "CoH Custom" or something.
Now you will have 2 shortcuts on your desktop. One for playing normal games and the other for playing with the modded maps. YOu will also be able to play the normal maps with the -dev version just not the modded maps using the normal shortcut.

I know it says dawn of war but will work for any SGA file.
Also, I have a link to where we have a lot of maps unpacked already and all you have to do is download them to your desktop, or where ever and extract/unzip them into the MP folder. (They are .rar files so if winzip doesn't extract them use WINRAR. Google it and you wikl find free versions) I have listed above in the game folder. This will be the easiest for you if you want to play a few custom maps. But you need this other Program if you find others that we have not done yet. Here is the link to the forum where we have our custom maps and downloads.

Just follow the little list of instructions and you should be up and playing these custom maps we have, and the coop map is on there. I can tell you that we have played the coop map 15 times and only beat it once. What a hard map but very enjoyable.

It's hard to say whether this was completed without the use of a mod. If you really did complete it congratulations, it must have been a hard fought battle.
But the ultimate test IMO, would be to play this using the Mod Allies Complete. Guys, just try it and see how long you last. My friend and I have made it till 57:33. Real close, but the sheer amount of pershings in the end was just too much.
With this mod, the Allies are RIDICULOUSLY powerful, their infantry, including HMG and Mortars and rangers and riflemen are incredible. Their HMG is more powerful than 2 MG42s combined. Plus, you get NO CPU help, if you're gunning it alone or with just one friend. Its one heck of a battle and I'm sure it will give anyone here just about enough challenge.

Yeah, i lasted like 57 minutes too with my brother. If my friend would have played too, we'd have last the whole hour for shore. The CPU axis sucks :D
We have only beat it one time. After a few run throughs, we made sure we took out the allies sniper right off the bat. He was the eyes for the arty that would take out the first objective. We manned all the paths up from the beaches and spammed pioneers to man as many mg's as possible, along with the flak 88, and 20mm guns, and then sent volks and up'd their verterancy as quickly as possible. Setting up many a/t guns with mg support to suppress the airbore helped a lot. The brits will drop a glider in the bases too. We had a/t guns and osterwinds by then to take them out. With many mg's on the approaches we sent 4 squads of volks to the howitzers and finally took them out with them, since we didn't have enough resorces to do an of map arty attack at the time.
The main key is getting that sniper taken out right at the beginning or you will be behind the power curve early on and playing catchup, if you can...It is a hell of a map and my hats off to those who were apart of making it. One of the most challenging maps my buddies and I have ever played.....Great one in deed.

The best custom map i've ever played. Fantastic work guys. Couldnt wait for CoH to go eastern, just to see the kind of maps u guys would come up with on the eastern front.

atm sga`s can not be played online, latest news from buggo was that they will look into the problem (whatever that means) but we will put out another version so you can play online in -dev mode.

that is where you enter the names of the sga maps you wan't to play online. you have to copy the sga file to Program Files\Company of Heroes\WW2\Data\Scenarios\MP\
make sure you make a backup of RelicCOH.module first, for patching to work ok.

I've played dday a lot and had it FSE on my at exactly 9:54 left everytime.
I've played with 4 other players and we all seem to get this error. I have completed it once with no FSE. Can you help?

Running v12 using manns coh launcher.
yep, its a known bug, it will be fixed once we release our mission pack, it happens when you loose the left reinforcment point and you take it back (if I remember correctly), think there was another crash somewhere if one player was pe... anyway, will be fixed :) sorry for that.

how do u put maps onto company of heroes
Hey, I install the link and so on, but when I start up the game, and select the map, the game crashes and a crash report appears.

Ok, I see the update on the home page and what not, but I found out before I installed the update I realized that I didn't have the latest patch (2.502).
So I downloaded the patch and when I went to install it it said it didn't work and I may have to re-install COH.

yeah patching error, had that a couple of times, this really sucks, especially when you have to install like 10 patches.
Not really anything you can do about but reinstall. i f you have Tales of Valor, you just have to install 2 patches, that won`t hurt too much.
Ok, I have all the COH's including TOV so what patches will I have to install when I reinstall? Also do I have to reinstall all the COH games or just a certain one?
no, just reinstall ToV, it has all the data for the older games, when you login to relic with your account, the old campaigns will be unlocked too. then just autoupdate to 2.502, it will be 3 downloads I think.
