View Full Version : How to make walkable slopes

I've been playing around with the WorldBuilder for some time - which has given me lots of respect for those who actually complete those maps that are both nicely looking AND worth playing.

Right now I'm trying to make some height differences in the landscape. I have two questions about that:

I have elevated the area where the HQs are. But I can't figure out how to make a slope that leads to the plateau. How is it done?
Often, when making the landscape, a single click on a mouse button makes a cone more than a slight elevation. Even when strength and height are low, it seems to happen. How can I make elevations more even?I hope someone will answer these questions for me, as they kind of halt my progress and I don't want to give up yet, since I feel that I have a couple of good ideas for some maps.

U can try smoothing it out, but maybe splines can do it i dont know i just started using splines :)

I tried using splines and they do indeed make a nice slope. However, I cannot figure out how to connect them to the surrounding landscape??

Nobody can give any advice on this?

You can adjust the height of a deform spline just like any other object, mark one of the controlpoints then press the H key and move your mouse, that way you can make even very complex slopes very easy.
Dont forget that a deform spline will follow the terrain it is placed on, sometimes it is easier to level the terrain before you place the spline and then add the spline.
If you want to do more modelling to the spline, you can bake it, then the spline object disappears and becomes a part of the height map.
